Ecological monitoring of sports and recreational facilities

Monitoring of small mammals in the area of Roza Khutor construction

Results of monitoring in 2011

In the spring and autumn 2011 gathering of data was organized on species composition and quantitative ratio of small mammals (mouse-like rodents) in the study area. Two plots were used: plot 14 is located near the skiing run, not far from the cable way in the beech-hornbeam forest at the height 1100 m above the sea level; plot 15 occurs near the Aibga mountain range in the subalpine belt at the height 2100 m above the sea level by the rock. Based on the control entrapment on the study area in the spring and autumn, habitation of 5 species of mouse-like rodents was identified with certainty. A preliminary conclusion can be made that the condition of the small rodents community in the subalpine belt is not satisfactory (plot 15), while the condition of the small rodents community in the beech forest is stable (plot 14).
